This course is designed for new firearm owners or anyone preparing to purchase their first firearm. It covers essential firearms safety, handling, storage, and shooting techniques. The course includes both classroom instruction and range time. Successful students earn the NRA certified courses 'New Shooter Seminar' certificate. Additionally, students have the option to add the Firearms Safety Card course to better prepare for their first or upcoming purchase in shooting sports.

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting teaches essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the safe use of a pistol, emphasizing firearms safety. This course is designed for all individuals, regardless of prior shooting experience or NRA affiliation, and is available as a traditional, instructor-led program. Participants receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor throughout the course. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, the parts and operation of a pistol, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, and range rules. They will practice shooting from various positions, including bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling, while also covering cleaning and continued opportunities for skill development in shooting sports. Upon successful completion, students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, the NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and earn an NRA course completion certificate.Running a holiday sale or weekly special? This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for firearms safety while carrying a concealed pistol for personal defense. The NRA CCW Course is designed for all individuals, regardless of their previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. Admission to this course is based on the Chief Instructor's recommendation. This instructor-led course provides direct instruction from an NRA & DOJ certified instructor throughout, and it may take place in a classroom setting and/or on a shooting range. A successful student will complete a written examination and a course of fire to receive an NRA course completion certificate. Please note that this course meets the requirements for the issuance of a California CCW permit. AN OPTIONAL NON-RESIDENT AZ CCW PERMIT CERTIFICATE ADDITION IS AVAILABLE. 

We offer a Non-Resident ARIZONA CCW Permit qualification certificate. A California CCW permit is not required for this certification. This permit provides concealed carry options in Arizona and 25 other states. We are able to present the training as a stand lone course or can add it to another course where appropriate.

Prerequisite: This course is designed for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters who demonstrate mastery of essential firearms safety skills, including safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm. Prospective participants can prove they possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by presenting an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification. Description: This is an eight-hour course where students should anticipate shooting approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Participants will learn fundamental defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety, and how to respond to a violent confrontation. Additionally, the course covers firearms and the law, and how to choose a handgun for self-defense, along with continued opportunities for skill development in shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and a course completion certificate.

 This course is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local  law and are of good repute and possess defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Course.  Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Certificate. Description: The course is divided into two levels. Level one is nine-hours and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and  effectively for personal protection outside the home.  Students spend mutiple hours on the range and shoot approximately 200 rounds of ammunition during level one. Upon completion, students may choose to register for and attend level two, which is an additional five hours on the range and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition learning advanced shooting skills. Time and ammunition requirements are minimum, and may be exceeded.  Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and appropriate (level one/level two) course completion certificates(s). Please note that completion of this course alone does not currently meet the requirements for the issuance of a California CCW permit. AN OPTIONAL NON-RESIDENT AZ CCW PERMIT CERTIFICATE ADDITION IS AVAILABLE.  

 The candidate must present a completion certificate for the NRA Basic Pistol Course with a marksmanship Level 4 to qualify for this course. The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a  result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for  Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset  when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate.
